Top tips when obtaining your lender accreditations

AFG 2 August 2022 2:55:00 PM

Most brokers are accredited with several lenders. However, as your customer base requirements or circumstances change, so might your need to expand your panel of lenders.

We have a centralised accreditation team here to help you with your lender accreditations. Here are some top tips and frequently asked questions they have collated to help you on your journey.

Top tips when obtaining your lender accreditations

1. Supporting documents

Keep your supporting documents up to date. Most of your documents expire and/or need updating from time to time. If we do not hold updated/current documents, we will request this from you to ensure your accreditation is submitted promptly.

2. Track your requests

Once your request for accreditation has been received by the team you can track its status in Help under My Requests.

3. Urgent accreditations

If you require an accreditation urgently send the normal request to accreditations@afgonline.com.au but include that it is an urgent request in the subject line and the reason why. Please ensure to cc your Partnership Manager in the email so they can request for your application to be escalated with the team for processing.

4. Accreditations through your previous aggregator

If you were previously with another aggregator some residential lenders will accept a completed transfer request form although there are some that will require a new request to be completed.

5. Lender accreditation requirements

Understand the requirements for accreditation vary from lender to lender. For information on what different lenders require in their accreditation process please refer to Lenders for current information on how to apply with each lender.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I request accreditation with a Lender?

Most lenders have accreditation forms available on Lenders – just click on the lender logo and choose the accreditations tab and complete the relevant accreditation form. Once the accreditation form is completed in full, please send to accreditations@afgonline.com.au

H
ow quickly will my request be attended to?

The Accreditations Team will generally attend to your request within 1-2 business days but SLAs may vary depending on demand. If the request is urgent, please contact your PM to assist with an escalation. When the request has been signed off and sent to the lender they will send you an email to confirm.

What is the turnaround time for a completed accreditation request?

Most lenders will ask brokers to complete training before accreditation is finalised. Turnaround times will then depend on when that training is completed. Accreditations can take from 1 day to 4 weeks to complete.

Once I'm accredited, where can I see my codes?

Once a lender completes your accreditation application they may send you a welcome email containing a broker code. A broker code is a unique number (or set of numbers and letters) that the lender has assigned to you to allow you to lodge with that lender and later, correctly pay your commissions to you via AFG. You will have a different broker code for every lender you are accredited with.

Our accreditation team will put your broker codes into FLEX as they receive confirmation from the lender. However, in the event the lender comes back to you directly we recommend that you put your code into FLEX under 'Tools > User Preferences > Financial Institutions'. Please note that we do not keep records of who you are accredited with.

Do I need a mentor?

If you have less than 2 years face to face lending experience, some lenders will request a mentor to be in place. Each lender has specific requirements however the majority will require the mentor to be an approved MFAA/FBAA Mentor.
