# Bank Australia – Banking done differently

Buildings account for [23% of Australia’s total emissions](https://www.asbec.asn.au/news-items/high-performance-buildings-open-the-door-to-australias-climate-future/) and about half of that is from homes. Making homes clean and green is essential to addressing the climate crisis.

Bank Australia’s Clean Energy Home Loan rewards customers for having a planet-friendly home and is perfect if they have already or are planning to add solar panels, window glazing and insulation to their home within the last 12 months or even buy or build an energy-efficient home.

Eligible customers can receive a discount of up to 0.30% p.a. off the Clean Energy reference rate for five years for variable rates or the length of their fixed rate period (up to 3 years). There are three different ways they can access their Clean Energy Home Loan.

The first two are their [Eco](https://bankaust.com.au/banking/home-loans/clean-energy-home-loan/eco) and [Eco Upgrade](https://bankaust.com.au/banking/home-loans/clean-energy-home-loan/eco-upgrade) options, which offer a 0.20% p.a. discount, and the third option is [Eco Plus](https://bankaust.com.au/banking/home-loans/clean-energy-home-loan/eco-plus) which gives approved customers a 0.30% p.a. discount depending on their type of home and eligibility. Discounts are off the Clean Energy Home Loan reference rate.
